Hummus
Hummus
Our family loves hummus. Hummus is a delicious spread or dip made from
chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic and olive. It is commonly eaten in the Middle East
and the Mediterranean. It is so easy to make, end up no more buying from store.
Lastly, it is healthy ingredients and vegan, isn't it is wonderful?
Ingredients :-
1) 400g canned Chickpeas
2) 6 tbsp Tahini sauce (click here for the recipe)
3) 1 Lemon Juice
4) 1 or 2 cloves of Garlic (my family prefer 1 clove)
5) 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
6) 1/2 tsp of Salt
7) 5 to 6 Ice cubes
Canned Chickpeas or you can cook raw chickpeas until soften, cool and set aside.
Peel off skin of the chickpeas and wash lightly.
If you prefer the taste of the skin, by all means to retain the skin. Choice is yours.
Drain and set aside.
In a food processor, combine all the ingredients EXCEPT for the ice cubes.
Process for 1 minute, scrape all sides and bottom and add 1 ice cube and
process for few seconds and add more ice cube gradually
while processing the chickpeas until smooth (by adding ice cube is to prevent the chickpeas
further cooked since the food processor kind of heated up while processing).
The texture of the hummus depends on individual, if you wanted coarse texture,
then no need to process so long nor add more ice cube.
Smoother texture meaning more time to process and more ice cube to add.
If you find a bit dry, you can add the extra virgin olive oil.
Don't be stress out, there no ultimate method of do and don't.
Just see, smell and taste while making it. You won't go wrong.
While blogging this recipe, we have eaten twice of this recipe within nearly 3 weeks.
